About Gordon State College
Gordon State College, which began as the Gordon Institute in 1872, is the second oldest institution of public higher education in Georgia. The College became a part of the University System of Georgia in 1972. Designated a state college in 2006, approximately 4,000 students attend Gordon State College, with 1,000 living on campus. The college offers bachelor's degrees in Early Childhood Education, Mathematics, Biology, English, History, Nursing RN-BSN, Health Information Management, Human Services, and Management and Administration as well as 37 fully transferable pathways to bachelor’s degrees.
Gordon State is located minutes away in Barnesville. The campus encompasses 235 acres with residence halls, an Honors House, a state-of-the-art Nursing and Allied Health Science building, a 56,000 square foot Student Recreation and Activity Center, and the newly-renovated Dorothy W. Hightower Collaborative Learning Center and Library.
