The Griffin Region College and Career Academy, GRCCA, began with discussions in the community during the spring and summer of 2013. By that fall, the Griffin-Spalding Board of Education had established the GRCCA Steering Committee. Throughout the charter application process, all three partner counties: Butts, Pike, and Spalding have offered various types of support.

The GRCCA began course offerings for students in the fall of 2016 with 155 students.  The UGA, Griffin Campus, and Southern Crescent Technical College hosted these classes while the GRCCA was under renovation.  The doors opened in August 2017 to host 225 students in the new GRCCA building.  August of 2018 brought 352 students, from Butts, Pike and Griffin Spalding, to the GRCCA.

Now is the perfect time for citizens, parents, and local/regional businesses to get involved through a variety of gifts.  The GRCCA is a non-profit organization and with gratitude will accept gifts including:
  • Monetary Donations
  • Mentoring and teaching expertise, especially adjunct instructors
  • Advertising and marketing tools
  • Goods and services to enhance our facility/labs/classrooms
  • Other contributions and in-kind gifts
